Prior to becoming a defensive tackle for the Carolina Panthers, Derrick was an active mentee in the LDAC Kappa League Program throughout high school. Upon graduating, he went on the be a standout student-athlete, both on and off the field at Auburn University.

In addition to being an All-American, he was named Auburn’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2020 and he served on the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council, where he led a number of community service projects. Now, through the Derrick Brown Foundation he makes an impact off the field through donation and support to underprivileged kids in Charlotte.
